1934 – Wood of the True Cross and Relics of Thirty Saints

$225.00

This certificate, issued at Mechelen on 10 December 1934, records relics of the True Cross and thirty saints in one round copper case. The handwritten list runs from Teresa of Ávila, Agnes and Ursula to John Chrysostom, Francis de Sales and Anthony of Padua.

Cardinal Jozef-Ernest van Roey, Archbishop of Mechelen and Primate of Belgium, signed it himself. The printed form had allowed for his vicar general’s signature; “Vicarii Generalis” has been struck through and the wording altered. The archdiocese’s custodian of relics countersigned, and an embossed seal remains at the lower left.

A printed card gives the full Latin text, the complete list of saints and an English translation. The certificate is offered as a historical document; no relic is included, and it does not authenticate any relic with which it may later be paired.

Condition: Good. Folded, with the fold lines visible; a small rust-colored spot near the seal; otherwise clean.
