1934 – Ashes of Saint Francis of Assisi and Bone Relics of Nine Saints

$165.00

The list on this certificate leans Franciscan. It opens with ashes of Saint Francis of Assisi and goes on to bones of Anthony of Padua, Clare of Assisi, Colette, who reformed Clare's order of nuns in the fifteenth century, and Elizabeth of Hungary. Five more saints follow, among them the martyrs Barbara and Apollonia and Margaret Mary Alacoque, the nun whose visions spread the devotion to the Sacred Heart. The certificate records all ten in one round copper relic case with a silver ring and crystal cover.

Cardinal Jozef-Ernest van Roey, Archbishop of Mechelen and Primate of Belgium, certified it on 10 December 1934 and signed it with his own hand, below his engraved arms. The printed words “Vicarii Generalis,” allowing for his vicar general’s signature, are struck through. The archdiocese's custodian of relics countersigned, and the cardinal's seal is embossed at the lower left.

It comes with our printed card giving the full Latin text and an English translation.
