1866 – Relics from the Virgin Mary’s Shirt and Saint Joseph’s Workshop

$325.00

The border of this relic certificate shows the instruments of Christ’s Passion. Veronica’s veil appears at the top, the scourging column runs down one side, and thorny branches wind through the design.

Issued at Bruges on 30 August 1866 under Bishop Johannes Josephus Faict, the certificate describes four relics enclosed together: fragments attributed to the Virgin Mary’s shirt, Saint Joseph’s workshop, Saint Barbara’s bones and Saint Francis’s habit. Their round copper case had a silver ring and a crystal cover.

Faict’s vicar general and custodian of relics signed the sheet, numbered 6127 in the diocesan register. A printed card supplies the Latin text and an English translation. The certificate is offered as a historical document; no relic is included, and it does not authenticate any relic with which it may later be paired.
